Abstract:
The process leading to the formation of stars is among the most complex studied by astronomers to date. I discuss several recent progresses:
Kinematic information: Data from the Gaia satellite have enabled us to map the gas with unprecedented details. Using Gaia data, we provide a vivid picture of the structure evolution of the Milky Way disk where the effect of shear, sNumerous stellar-mass black holes and supermassive black holes have been identified throughout the Universe, yet intermediate-mass black holes (IMBHs) remain elusive. These IMBHs are crucial for unraveling the history of black hole formation, particularly during the early stages of the Universe. Moreover, IMBH-IMBH binaries represent prime targets for space-based gravitational wave detectors. In this talk, I will introduce our IMBH-RM project, highlighting the challenges encountered and sharing some preliminary results.
