Abstract:
In the last 20 years, a large number of stellar streams – structures created by disrupted dwarf galaxies and globular clusters – have been found around the Milky Way and Andromeda. In this talk, I will describe what these streams can tell us about the accretion history of the Milky Way, the gravitational potential, and dark matter distribution in our own galaxy and in Andromeda.
