The VST Optical Imaging of the CDFS and ES1 Fields (VOICE) Survey is a deep optical ugri imaging of the CDFS and ES1 fields using the VLT Survey Telescope (VST). The observations for the CDFS field have been completed, and comprise about 4.38 sq. deg down to r ~ 26 mag in the final mosaic. The total on-sky time spans over four years, distributed over four adjacent sub-fields. We use the multi-epoch imaging data to measure the variability of the detected objects and search transients. To take the observational depth into account, a new method, naming as differential running-average photometry, is proposed. With this method, we are able to measure the variability of objects down to r ∼ 25.0 mag. In this talk, I will firstly give an introduction to the time-domain astronomy and the most-used methods for transient detections and classifications in this field. Then I will present the preliminary results on the transient measurements using VOICE data.
