Abstract: The article discusses a renewed interest in participatory cultures in schools and libraries. It notes that in a high school of 200 students, all ball teams depend on everyone participating to function while larger environments tend to isolate and discourage participation that result in student alienation. It points to the school librarian who can turn a school library into a center of learning and culture for the school.
