Abstract: The article reports on the growing emphasis being given to instructional leadership skills among school principals. According to National Association of Elementary School Principals Executive Director Gail Connolly, this has resulted in the need for further training, with principals' development progressing into a team-oriented, site-based program. Several organizations have developed principal development programs, including the Wallace Foundation's School Administrative Managers Project.
