Vandalism on College Campuses: The Need for More Security
Rafferty, Victoria
Abstract: Vandalism is a prevalent problem on college campuses. This paper will describe why vandalism is not as readily noticed in higher education as a major problem and what those institutions can do to reduce the issue. Surveillance will be discussed as one of the various ways in which a campus can reduce crime on campus and make the college safer. Underreporting and the Clery Act will be examined as part of the problem with overlooking vandalism and crime on campus. Examples of institutions that have created policies or implemented some forms of the suggested solutions to the problem will also be briefly explained. Overall this paper should inform institutions as to what may help to reduce vandalism and other minor crimes through implementing various forms of technology. The technology should act as a supplement to the withstanding policies or security present on a campus. Adding other devices to aid security will ultimately help the institution give students a safer place to leave property, and it should reduce costs for public and private damages.

3、应告知以什么技术制度可以帮助减少人为破坏等轻微罪行。该技术应作为补充,在校园里承受政策或安全性存在。添加其他设备,最终帮助该机构为学生提供一个更安全的地方。
